Repeat Order from Order History on Punch

Feature Name

Repeat Order from Order History

Overview

The Repeat Order feature allows users to quickly re-place a previously executed, cancelled, or rejected order directly from the Order History tab. With a single tap, the order details are pre-filled, enabling faster trade execution—especially useful for intraday strategies.

Problem Statement

Intraday traders often repeat similar trades multiple times during market hours. Currently, they must:

  • Manually re-enter symbol, quantity, price, and order type

  • Risk input errors

  • Lose valuable execution time in fast-moving markets

This creates friction and slows down decision-making.

Solution

Add a “Repeat Order” action button in the Order History tab.
When selected, the system copies key parameters from the previous order and opens the order placement screen with editable fields.

How It Works

  1. User navigates to Order History

  2. Selects any past order (Executed / Cancelled / Rejected)

  3. Clicks Repeat Order

  4. Order placement screen opens with pre-filled details:

    • Trading symbol

    • Exchange

    • Buy/Sell

    • Order type (Market / Limit / SL)

    • Product type (Intraday / Delivery)

    • Quantity & Price

  5. User reviews, modifies if needed, and places the order

Key Benefits

  • Faster trade execution

  • Reduced manual errors

  • Improves intraday trading efficiency

  • Encourages higher trading activity

Validation Rules

  • Latest market price auto-updated for limit/market orders

  • User must re-confirm quantity and price before submission

  • Margin availability rechecked at order placement

  • Feature disabled for expired or delisted instruments

UI/UX Notes

  • Icon-based quick action (🔁) for easy recognition

Edge Cases

  • If product type is not available, auto-switch to supported type with prompt

  • If order type is no longer valid, prompt user to edit
